"Here at the Yamasaki Academy of Woodbridge there are no boards to break, no forms or "kata" to memorize. We don't have 10 year olds wearing Black Belts and there are no teenagers running classes. Because this is, unfortunately, the reality of what most people think of "Martial Arts" these days we don't even want to be considered a Martial Arts gym. We prefer to be thought of as a Combat Sports Academy. We are more focused on the competitive and athletic element of training. We aren't overly concerned with concepts like "self defense" because we are training against other skilled opponents EVERY DAY. We are interested in what works in a realistic situation.
